The Pathological Worrywart

Some of the things preying on my mind right now:
- How to boost my page ranking - It went down with a resounding splat when I switched to my own domain name (this used to be spinninglovelydays.blogspot.com). That was in March of this year. It hasn't recovered since. Got any tips?
- What to get and do for my parents' birthdays (they're a week apart and coming up really soon)
- If I care enough to do anything to make my own birthday (2 days after my mom's) special or shall I pretty much just ignore it like I do every year
- If Marguerite should wear a costume to celebrate "Harvest" (what we call Halloween so we can celebrate it, hehe) and if we should let her join any of the trick or treat events in the city
- Our church Christmas pageant, which I'm directing
- This other secret-ish event coming up before the pageant (which I'm also spearheading with a couple of other people)
- The super special church Christmas party we are planning
- Whether to sell anything at the church bazaar (it might not be as much fun if I'm minding a booth, lol)
- What to give for Christmas
   > deciding which ones will get handmade and which ones will get store-bought (I know some people won't enjoy handmade items, so I still have to get something from the store)
   > deciding the look of this year's Christmas ecard
   > designing Marguerite's present, which I am making
- That this novel I'm writing was initially supposed to be 12000 words long and is now 18000 words and nowhere near finished... The thought of having to edit out parts is depressing me, sigh
- Homeschooling Marguerite (that I'm secretly hoping for something to happen to the TV so it's no longer readily available to Marguerite - she pretty much dominates our TV; or that I should be more zealous in engaging her in productive pursuits - cuz really, why take my frustration out on the TV?)

More really, but I don't think I'll air all of them, lol... I always unnecessarily worry myself into a pathetic mass of nerves before I get moving. I'm thinking I'm getting too old and less healthy for that kind of strategy and I need to change it?

Ivy- you remind me so much of a younger version of myself. I know you take all of this very seriously, and I do think that's good, but you have to try to be realistic about how much you can do (says the person who never figured out how to do that!) Try to figure out some time estimates for some of those projects.

Thanks for leaving the comment about burning leaves, one always wonders if anyone is reading your blog. You seem to be very busy with your life, enjoy the little ones they grow way too fast.

Thanks, Sharkbytes. I always think if I could just be better organized... lol

Thanks for leaving a comment about burning leaves, we never know who really reads our blogs. You sound very busy, enjoy the little ones they grow up too fast.

Thanks for stopping by, Molly. :)

I think you need to focus on yourself a bit, you seem to be taking a lot on. Never ignore your birthday! It's the only time of the year you're allowed to be selfish. And we all deserve to be selfish once in a while.

lol I don't know if you remember, Nikka, but I turn into a hermit around my birthday. I think I used to take a leave and hole up in my room hiding, lol It's not that bad anymore. I just treat it like a regular day, but the urge to flee is still there. :)

I do remember! I used to think you were enjoying the day off somewhere.

I dare you to celebrate.

Maybe I will... a little. Tiny steps, lol

When I was younger, I used to worry a lot but I learned to just let go. I've learned that worrying does nothing and even reduces years of your life.
What Jesus said about worry is the truth that knocked off my worry-ness. You see, worry is not trusting Him.
He said; "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."--Matthew 6:25-34

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."--Matthew 11:28-30

And we are assured that "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."--Romans 8:28

"But my God shall supply your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."--Philippians 4:19

"Be anxious about nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6- 7

Ivy---these are some of the verses I know that help me remove anxiety and fear.
So now, I don't worry. I just keep on calling God for advice and directions.

Thanks for reminding me that worrying is a sin. I just meant I think too much, just vacillating, and do it for a long time, in effect procrastinating, before I finally take action. I guess I wanted to point out how wishy washy I can be and that needs to change.

A lot of works to be done.. Take it easy, just prioritize everything to be done... Don't worry too much.

If you're anything like me, just making a list on your blog will at least make you feel a LITTLE better ;-)

Good luck with it all!

spinninglovelydays said...

@Silvergirl: Thanks. There is a chronological prioritization going on there somewhere. :)

@Annika: I know, right? Making lists does super help. :)

Your blog is Page Rank 2, so that is already good in the meantime. Just keep on blogging and don't mind about Page Rank. It is not an indicator of a good blog, because it only shows the popularity of a page in your blog which has a lot of links, page rank being a function of links, incoming links, that is.

spinninglovelydays said...

Thanks, Eli. You're right, of course. Could you tell me how you found out what my page rank is? I thought it was Page Rank 0 (it used to be 2 in its blogspot days).

Eli @ Business Sphere said...

You can check your blog's page rank in any page rank checker websites. In my case I have installed an add on which shows on my browser the Alexa rank and page rank of every blog / site that I visited.

For example, you can visit the site below to check your page rank, and it shows that your blog is PR 2. I checked your PR on other PR checker sites, same results -- PR 2.

spinninglovelydays said...

That is so weird. I get 0/10 when I check. Thanks for the info though. :)

Scrap my last input. I tried copy-and-pasting my URL (seems it's different if I leave out the www) and it does say Page Rank 2. Thanks again, Eli! :D
