Marguerite and I attended a homeschoolers' meetup yesterday. It was a lot of fun and I learned so much. It was truly a blessing for me since homeschooling can get pretty lonely if you don't personally know anybody going through the same path as you are. As playdates go, I think it was a little too long for Marguerite and she got too wild as we got closer to her bedtime. I have to think of a way to avoid that scenario for next time.
Our generous hosts Fresca and Lester offered their lovely home as the venue for this meetup of independent homeschoolers. It was a small, yet eclectic group of homeschoolers with some following the Waldorf approach, others doing unschooling, etc. Fresca also turned out to be a veritable fountain of homeschooling resources and she has graciously lent us some of her books. I was able to snag "Understanding Young Children" this time around. I was interested in many of the materials she presented, but I thought I'd stick to a number I knew I could finish reading until the next meetup, lol.
