PBW#5 "Memorable" Event

The weekend was a good one, although we did miss Mark on Saturday since he had a shoot in Batangas. My dad drove us to Marguerite's dance class and then we went with him to the church so he could oversee the worship team practice. While there, I worked on some knitting. The kids there (tambourine dancers) wanted to learn too, but since I only had that pair of needles with me, I just taught them how to finger knit. Sunday, our church had a bienvenida (welcome home) program for Obet and his teammate, Johann, and their team manager, Marlon, who just got back from London where they represented the Philippines in the UK Open Memory Championships. Johann placed 9th overall and bagged a silver medal in Speed Cards besides, while Obet came in 11th. Johann gave an impressive demonstration of Speed Cards. He had two decks of cards, one was arranged in the correct sequence, while the other one he asked somebody from the audience to shuffle really well. He then memorized the shuffled deck's sequence of cards. After that, he started arranging the other deck to copy the shuffled deck's sequence. He did everything in less than five minutes and the two decks perfectly matched card for card when he was done.

(from top to bottom): Johann talking about his experience preparing for the competition; Marlon talking about their experience raising funds for the trip; Johann demonstrating Speed Cards; group pic with Obet and Johann (Marguerite and I are in the pic); another group pic with Johann, Obet and Marlon seated in the front row
