Ever since I can remember and long before that, our church has been singing "He's Coming Soon" right before the benediction. I know my mom and dad had mentioned before that the tune was borrowed from an old Hawai'ian song, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear it in Lilo and Stitch. I was working myself up into a crying spell (it's that part where Lilo's sister's about to give her up) and suddenly it dawned on me that the tune Nani was singing was that of "He's Coming Soon". I got so excited (I know - the things I get excited over...) about my discovery that I forgot about my tears and started googling.
So anyway, here's "Aloha 'Oe":
|Aloha ʻoe, aloha ʻoe||Farewell to thee, farewell to thee|
|E ke onaona noho i ka lipo||The charming one who dwells in the shaded bowers|
|One fond embrace,||One fond embrace,|
|A hoʻi aʻe au||'Ere I depart|
|Until we meet again||Until we meet again|
I couldn't find a video of somebody actually singing "He's Coming Soon", but if you go to this page, you'll hear the tune and see the complete lyrics. In our church, we only sing the chorus:
He’s coming soon, He’s coming soon;
With joy we welcome His returning;
It may be morn, it may be night or noon—
We know He’s coming soon.
I guess I just wanted to share. :) Btw, I just wrote another article for Bukisa. See here. It was supposed to be for July 2 (which is "I Forgot Day"), but it didn't go live until yesterday or today...
